  • Profile: Mold-bases are primary raw materials for molds.  Mold-bases are cut out from special steel into desired shapes to fit into specific designs of various molds.  Consequently, mold production heavily depends on the quality and on-time delivery of mold-bases purchased from outside mold-base makers.  To address such problems, the company acquired mold-base production lines in October 2001 and began to produce mold-bases since February 2002.   The newly set up mold-base lines are expected to: 1) create KRW2.5 billion of additional revenues and KRW500 million of net profits from the sale of mold-bases to other mold manufacturers; 2) lessen lead-time for production of the Company's own molds by five days; and 3) give the Company direct control over the quality of mold-bases which are used in its mold production lines.   On top of that, some of the mold-base production equipment can also be used in mold production lines, whereby efficiency in factory operation will be greatly enhanced.
